Dear family, friends and constituents of Bashir Ahmad MSP,

 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Bashir Ahmad MSP on Friday 6 February 2009.

 Bashir broke new ground as the first Asian and Muslim member of Scottish Parliament.  He was a beloved and well respected man across all communities and all political parties in Scotland.
